10:00am:

it was a sunny afternoon. i was driving around with sarah in my car, sometimes driving, sometimes in the passenger seat. there was paper on the dashboard on top of the left vents. as i picked this paper up, i saw that the vents were burning the paper. the paper was curling and burning off. the vents were sort of glowing this red under grey color. we tried to blow it off as nothing and keep driving, but everything in the car was getting very hot.

the sun was still glaring when i pulled the car over into a little subdivision on the other side of the river (the illinois river, i'm assuming). sarah and i pulled it into this apartment building that had a hollowed out first floor for parking. i called my father and mother to come help with the car. my dad said something to me that seems really important, and i can't remember it now.

the car started to glow red hot, or the interior did anyway. the gear shifter had an eerie red glow, like the heat was showing through rendering the hard grey plastic translucent. no one knew what to do, so someone called the police. my dad was there, aaron was there, sarah, jessica, and a few other people. soon, the police/security people arrived and started blaring sirens so that people would evacuate their apartment buildings in the area. they were setting up these tents as fast as they could that people were packing in, wrapping themselves in fireproof outfits, sitting in these absolutely tiny tents. i tried to get in a tent with jessica but i was too scared and anxious to sit in there and wait for whatever was going to happen.

i wanted to run. i wanted to run so far, so fast, but aaron wouldn't come with me when i tried to get him to come. i pulled at his arm and he asked what i was doing. he turned around and went back toward the car, i guess to see all the excitement or to help people or i don't know what. everyone i knew in peoria was there, and aaron of course. i finally convinced my mother to come with me in my attempt to get away from the car. i couldn't understand why more people weren't trying to get as far away as possible. we started to climb on these bridges and decks that went over the illinois river. we were almost to the other side, when we turned around and watched all the people on the other side. the street with the car was on a hill, and we could see everything. finally & all of a sudden, the car exploded. the explosion was even bigger than i expected, wiping out the whole area including where the car was all the way to the river front. the tents disappeared, all the people disappeared, and the side of the city that was on the river simply collapsed into the river. people were falling in, but they looked like they were jumping.

i stood there with my mother and said "no. no. NO."

when i started to return to consciousness, i couldn't remember how old i was. i pictured my bedroom that i had when i was three years old on the other side of my eyelids. where was i? what was my life like? for a few seconds, i had completely no idea. only when my eyes were fully open did i remember that i lived in chicago. it was 9:15 and i tried to call aaron, but he wasn't home.

that was my horrible dream for the night.
